The volume on my stereo gets turned up to 11 every time this song comes up on my fogey tunes playlist or on the radio. Lee Michaels has got a real soulful voice that’s fun to sing along to and his organ playing is a treat to hear, especially since it’s not a commonly used instrument in contemporary music.

And of course, I am sure a lot of people can probably relate to the subject matter of the song… I know what you mean.

I’ve really gotten into Springsteen over the past couple years… his approach to composition and performance bring something to the table that other artists are missing. He almost seems like he is narrating a personal story the way he plays music and it is totally relateable.

I wish that I could have seen him perform in his heyday. My Dad saw him a bunch of times back in the 80′s and took some bootleg videos (I think my sister has them now). I have thought about going to see Bruce live, but I feel like it probably isn’t going to be anything like it used to be. Things are totally different now.

Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR) is by far one of my favorite bands. They just have such a unique sound and style which they pull off ever so effortlessly. Classified as “swamp rock”, they truly do capture what the sentiments and feelings are probably like down in New Orleans and the encompassing area, but surprisingly they are from California. (Who would have thought?)
